Baby Mila's sweet smile wins The News Cute Kid contest

WITH two of her children already scooping prizes for their cuteness when they were younger, Helen Godden's 18-month-old Mila had a lot to live up to.

But it proved no problem as she has toddled away with this year’s News Cute Kids award.

With her big blue eyes and white blonde hair, Mila faced some tough competition against the other 19 adorable youngsters in the final.

Helen, from Gosport, said: ‘It is amazing and lovely that Mila won.

‘Everyone thinks their child is beautiful but I still didn’t expect to win because of how cute the other finalists were.

‘It was lovely when were told Mila had won. I was really happy and a proud parent.’

Mum-of-three Helen entered the competition last year with Mila and she got into the top 12.

Her other children also featured in competitions when they were babies and toddlers.

Leona, now 19, won her age group of six to 12 months in The News Cute Kids award and Helen’s 15-year-old son Bradley came out on top in Portsmouth’s Baby of the Year.

Helen added: ‘When I put all three of my children into the competitions, I never expected them to win.

‘I would have people come up to me in streets and say how gorgeous they were and that still happens now with Mila.

‘I have just been lucky in making really beautiful babies. I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who voted.’

Helen has won a copy of the professional photographs taken by The News as part of the competition. She said she was excited to see them.

Editor of The News, Mark Waldron, said: ‘It was great to see so many entries for our Cute Kids award this year.

‘There were lots of adorable pictures, and it made it difficult to choose a worthy winner.’
