Celebrity Casper has become very well-known by the seaside as he gets up to mischief in Lee-on-the-Solent Infant and Junior Schools, cuddles up to patients waiting at the doctor’s surgery and jumps into people’s cars.

It all began when the wandering white cat started walking from his home all the way to Titchfield, prompting his owner Emma Coleborn to put up Facebook posts in search of her elusive pet.

Once he was microchipped, four-year-old Casper stopped trekking to Titchfield but carried on making a name for himself in his village.

Emma, 34, said: ‘He’s so friendly. When the parents pull up in the car park he gets in their car and sits with them - sometimes it worries me because he could go off with anyone!

‘He is different, he’s definitely got some human in him. Over the years he’s got so much more popular.’

People have begun to send Emma pictures of Casper in their houses, on their cars and climbing over their sheds.

Casper is far more adventurous than his feline housemates, which include black cat Shadow and Casper’s mum, Sparkles, who is the opposite of her wayward son and more of a homebody.

Coming from a litter of six kittens, Casper almost wasn’t going to be kept by the family. Emma said: ‘He was the last one, someone took him and brought him back because they were allergic.

‘He’s been a character ever since.’

His biggest fans are Emma’s children, his three human friends Darcey, six, 11-year-old Ella and Dillon, who is 18.

Darcey will often come home from a day at the infant school and tell his mum that Casper joined them for assembly or break time.

Cats famously hate water, but Casper even bucks this trend with his love of baths.

‘He’s so laid back, he lets you bathe him, comb him, towel-dry him,’ said Emma.

‘He loves the attention from people, he loves being stroked and picked up. I’ve never met a cat like him.’
