A STUDENT’S car became a hive of activity after a swarm of honey bees made it their temporary home.
Around 20,000 insects covered most of the green Nissan Micra, in Grayshott Road, Southsea, yesterday.
George Neal, 21, owner of the car, found out what happened from his housemates Rory Edwards, 21, and Nick Macnaughtan, 28.
Portsmouth City Council got Graham Cook, a bee collector responsible for the area, to go and round up the bees, who were following the queen bee, in a basket before sending them away.
Mr Cook said it was the height of the swarming season, the natural means of reproduction of honey bee colonies.
