FOUR years ago, then aged 20, Ben Angus had a devastating stroke.
It is so rare for such a young person to suffer a stroke that, at first, paramedics thought he was simply drunk.
But it quickly became clear he was terribly ill and he was rushed to hospital.
He needed an operation on blood vessels in his brain and it was thanks to pioneering treatment at Sheffield Hospital that he was operated on and was able to make such a brilliant recovery.
Ben, a 24-year-old student of Western Way, Gosport, said: ‘I’m really proud to have been able to do it. My time was 1hr 26mins.
‘After the stroke I was told I wouldn’t be able to go back to university but I’m in my final year now and I’ve just done the Great South Run.’
