Portsmouth South MP Flick Drummond is now urging city youngsters to join the competition – the victors of which will win an all-expenses trip to Paris to represent the UK in a fly-off against teams from the USA, Japan and France.

Mrs Drummond said: ‘This is a brilliant and fun opportunity to apply high-level science, technology, engineering and maths knowledge in a practical way.

‘These skills are vital ones for the country to develop and they are in much demand at a host of local defence and aerospace companies in Portsmouth and the surrounding area.’
