Pupils and staff at Priory School in Southsea each paid £1 to dress up Blue Day.

Headteacher James Humphries said the fundraiser for the Tom Prince Cancer Trust had a special significance for the school because Tom was a former pupil there.

‘It’s a very important charity for us,’ he said. ‘Every year we award one child with the Tom Prince Award for Endeavour in Sport.’

Tom died of osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone disease, in 2004, a day before his 16th birthday.
