Ryan said: ‘I have never done anything like this before and I was supposed to be doing the ride as part of a group but the other participants dropped out. Fortunately my brother has now stepped in to take part. I chose Friends of the Earth as I am concerned about the environmental damage being caused in cities like Portsmouth and one of the aims of the charity is to promote the planting of trees and encourage green space in urban areas.’

The brothers are hoping to complete the ride in five days and have a target of raising more than £2,000.
