PORTSMOUTH’S Blue Reef Aquarium is celebrating pirates with a special weekend.

There will be live music, fancy dress, treasure trails and competitions for the event which will take place tomorrow and Sunday.

On Sunday, members of the renowned drumming band Batala Portsmouth will be performing at the aquarium dressed as pirates.

Visitors will be able to take part in a Pirate Treasure Chest competition, with a chance to win a Pirate Birthday Party at Blue Reef Aquarium, and there will be a variety of other activities taking place including pirate school, tours and quizzes.

Blue Reef’s Jen Atkinson said: ‘Our pirates events are always really popular so we’ve decided to really go for it this time round.’

Visitors will also be able to take part in treasure trails, competitions and special guided tours around the aquarium accompanied by staff in pirate fancy dress.
