VOLUNTEERS at a popular seaside railway are joining forces with cadets to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Members of Eight Flight Hampshire and Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force will meet and greet passengers on the Hayling Light Railway on August 30, and all donations will go to the armed forces charity.

The event is being organised by 14-year-old Harry Gatehouse, a pupil at Prospect High School, Havant, who is a junior volunteer at the railway.

Trains on the one-mile narrow gauge railway start at 11am from Beachlands station, behind the rollercoaster at Funland Amusement Park.

It runs every 45 minutes to Eastoke Corner, via Mengham Road Halt, with the last round trip at 5pm. For more information go to haylingseasiderailway.com.
