VOLUNTEERS are needed to go on a course to provide extra support to families in need.
Home-Start Portsmouth is looking for people who can spare two or three hours a week to make a difference to the lives of families in the city.
The charity supports families with a child under school age, who are finding things difficult.
Volunteers are asked to go on a course of preparation for one day, or one evening a week for 10 weeks.
This is so they can get to know how Home-Start Portsmouth works and then the charity can make sure they send you to the family that you are most suited to help.
You will be also be given the option on whether to accredit your learning.
Once you are matched with a family and visiting them weekly, you will receive support whenever possible.
Homestart will give you supervision every six to eight weeks so they can find out how things are going for you and for the family that you are visiting.
Home-Start Portsmouth is based at the Haven in Lake Road.
