LETTER OF THE DAY: Nightmare scenario for our city

Have your say

IT’S a world-class event that allows thousands to push themselves to the limit.

And this year, the Morrisons Great South Run will have a extra literary spin – a contest to write the best inspirational poem.

The run’s organisers announced the competition last week in The News.

The goal is simple: write a poem which would be under two minutes long when read out which celebrates the Great South Run and will energise, motivate and inspire participants.

The competition is open to people of all ages and abilities and you don’t have to enter the Great South Run to take part.

The winner will receive prizes and publicity including a framed Great South Run print and two entries to this year’s race.

The deadline for entries is Friday, August 14.

To enter, send your poem to Great South Run Poem, News Desk, The News, Lakeside 1000, North Harbour, Portsmouth, PO6 3EN or e-mail
