A Havant woman who survived cancer is throwing a weekend-long garden party to help raise money to buy a robot.

Lorraine Till is hoping to donate £2,000 to Queen Alexandra Hospital’s Rocky Appeal and its Da Vinci Robot at a party to be held next Saturday and Sunday.

In May 2014 the 57-year-old was diagnosed with colon cancer.

She said: ‘It was a shock because you think you’re perfectly healthy. But the doctors were so caring and confident and so were the nurses, that I felt safe. I cannot fault the hospital at all. That’s why I want to give back.’

Mrs Till’s eight-hour operation was meant to be done with the robot but due to hiring problems, she was treated through traditional surgery.

She hopes to contribute towards the purchase of the robot whilst also raising money for Cancer Research UK.

Mrs Till’s party will be selling everything from cakes and crafts to handbags and chutneys, as well as face paint and cupcake decorating classes for the youngsters.

On Sunday, Disney’s Frozen princesses will be attending to have their photo taken with children.

It will run from 11am until 5pm on both days and will take place at 20 Lower Rd, Old Bedhampton, Havant, PO9 3LH.

Mrs Till said: ‘People come and go with their friends and families and children. Everyone really enjoyed it last year and hopefully we’ll sell even more tea and cakes than before.’
