A CRICKET club has received a boost in funding from a local company.

Locks Heath Cricket Club was given a donation of £1,000, which will go towards new training kits.

Bob Hughes, who works for ExxonMobil at Fawley Refinery, applied for the grant on behalf of the club. Mr Hughes manages the under-13 team. The grant is issued for a contribution made to local youth sport.

He said: ‘Having managed many of the colts’ players since they were in the under-11 team, it’s rewarding to see how they have progressed as the game structure and rules alter with age. They are a talented group and I receive great parental support with scoring and umpiring too.’

Mark Griffiths, the club’s colts co-ordinator said: ‘We are tremendously grateful for this further ExxonMobil funding and the hard work by Bob in encouraging the young players who will form our next generation.’
