CAT lovers are being urged to help out an animal shelter that is packed to capacity with felines.

The Stubbington Ark shelter in Ranvilles Lane, Stubbington, is looking after 145 cats.

But shelter vet Caroline Loach said: ‘After 140 cats, welfare is compromised and we have disease spreading. It’s not ideal – it creates a drop in standards we wouldn’t like to give the cats.’

The rise is thought to be because owners are suffering increased financial problems.
