CHAMPION fundraiser Julie Scarborough has once again turned her home into a Christmas grotto.
Mrs Scarborough has been up into the early hours of the morning putting the finishing touches to transform her bungalow into a winter wonderland for three charities.
From 11am to 3.30pm on Saturday families can enjoy live music, food and refreshments and a chat with Father Christmas at her Widley home.
Mrs Scarborough holds the event every year and Saturday is the last one.
She said: ‘There really is so much for everyone to enjoy here.
‘I’m certain we are the only grotto with human reindeer pulling young children up the drive on a sledge.
‘If they’re over 10 the reindeer will walk them up the drive, arm in arm.
‘In the music room they can all gather round together and sing songs.
‘We have lots of things to sell because people have been very generous.
‘We have lots of books for children and adults – most of which are in immaculate condition.
‘And there are also lots of children’s toys to buy.’
Mrs Scarborough will be raising money for three good causes – Queen Alexandra Hospital’s Rocky Appeal, Naomi House Children’s Hospice and Gosport youngster Alicia Pannell who has cerebral palsy.
Mrs Scarborough said: ‘I got to know Alicia and her family through The News.
‘They are desperately trying to raise the money to build her a new little bedroom closer to her parents’ room.’
The grotto is 9 The Crest, Widley, off The Dale. The postcode is PO7 5DG.
