WORLD renowned conductor Tim Reynish took time out from travelling the globe to pass on some of his wisdom to a Portsmouth-based youth band.
Dr Reynish, a former president of the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, was visiting the city to work with the Portsmouth Band of the Royal Marines on Wednesday.
Richard Horn, Musical Director of the Highbury Area Band, said: ‘Dr Reynish is an icon of wind band music throughout the world, and with his very busy international schedule it was such an honour that he found time to be with us at our rehearsal.
‘It was an inspirational evening for all involved, and it goes to show that the excellent standard of young musicians within the Portsmouth area is at such a level that they can play in front of someone as important as Tim.’
After the rehearsal Dr Reynish said: ‘I must admit I wasn’t looking forward to coming up here in the evening after working with the Royal Marines all day, but it has been really quite good fun.’
