Charity garden party went down a real treat

A GOSPORT couple have thanked those who turned up to their charity open garden party.

Alan and Jo Booth held an open garden party last Saturday afternoon to raise money for The Rowans Hospice, a charity that offers specialist care to those with life-limiting illnesses.

Jo said: ‘It is the first time that we have done this event, and I think that it went really well.

‘We did it in aid of The Rowans. We have quite a large garden, but it isn’t just for show – we wanted to share it with everyone else in the local area.

‘Both Alan and I are in our 70s and wanted to do something for the community.

‘Some of the team from Loud and Proud were serving the tea – we also had a wide variety of cakes and flowers available, through they all seemed to go rather quickly.’

‘With the suggested donation of £2 for a cup of tea and some cake, we have managed to raise around £130 for the charity.’
