IT MAY be getting colder but gardeners have been honoured for their amazing results over the summer.

Judges were impressed with the standard, enthusiasm and diversity shown by green-fingered residents and businesses who entered the annual Chichester District Residents’ and Business Garden Competition.

The winners were honoured at an awards evening at the Assembly Rooms, Chichester.

Councillor Peter Clementson, chairman of Chichester District Council, presented the awards.

He said: ‘It was a wonderful evening and it was excellent to see such a high standard of gardens and commitment by the residents to make their communities brighter.’

Councillor Eileen Lintill, who is responsible for leisure and wellbeing at Chichester District Council, said: ‘It is great that so many local residents have got involved with the competition, and produced some fantastic gardens.

‘Congratulations to all the winners. I hope everyone continues to enjoy gardening. We would like to express our thanks to the sponsors and to everyone who entered the competition.’

The event was supported by Earth Cycle.

Readers of the Chichester Observer voted for the People’s Choice Award. Other sponsors include Tawny Nurseries and Brick Kiln Garden Centre.
