Children at Tops Day Nurseries in Cosham turned up in their pyjamas today to fundraise for Children in Need.

The nursery, at Queen Alexandra Hospital, put on a variety of fun-filled activities throughout the day, ranging from Pudsey bear hunts to playing with Pudsey play-doh.

Both staff and children dressed up in dressing gowns, slippers and pyjamas for £1 to donate to Children in Need.

Kasia Stunt, senior manager at the nursery, said: ‘It is extremely important to hold events for Children in Need because we are educating children at the same time as having fun. We show them that we are fundraising for a purpose.

‘The children can see that helping others is extremely important and we want to teach them that from a young age.’

A biscuit bake sale, using only natural sugars, took place in the afternoon where the children could bake and decorate their own biscuits.

‘We want to teach children to use other sources of sugar and how it can taste just as nice!’ Kasia continued.

Amber Wingham, deputy nursery manager said: ‘It is important to take part in Children in Need as this supports those who are less fortunate.

“This is a good way to teach our children to think about and help others.’
