SCHOOL children from Portsmouth will fill Guildhall Square on Monday as more than 1,100 youngsters from 35 schools will take part in this year’s annual schools’ carol concert.

All are invited to join the singing as the switching-on of the Christmas tree lights is celebrated from 6.30pm.

Music will be provided by the Salvation Army Portsmouth Citadel Band with the Portsmouth Music Service conducting the singers.

The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Councillor Lynne Stagg, will be turning on the Christmas tree lights at the start of the service, and Father Christmas will make an appearance.
