CINDERELLA star Tracy Shaw is masterminding a charity gala evening in aid of a poorly little girl.

The actress, who is playing the Fairy Godmother in the panto at the Kings Theatre in Albert Road, Southsea, was so touched by the plight of 10-year-old Chloe Challoner that she decided to do all she can to help.

Along with musical director Teresa Barlow and stage manager Samuel Fox, she is organising an hour-long variety performance, raffle and auction at the theatre in honour of Chloe, who is bravely battling cancer.

Proceeds will help Chloe’s family reach the magic £10,000 total they need to fund expert treatment in Texas, USA.

Mum-of-two Tracy said: ‘I can’t stop until I know that little girl is on that plane. I just feel so passionate about it. She’s really touched me – she’s a lovely girl. What she’s going through is heartbreaking and I just want her to be able to have some hope.’

The fundraising drive for Chloe’s treatment has already received a boost thanks to generous audience and cast members of Cinderella who have raised more than £1,000. So far about £3,500 has been raised – but more cash is desperately needed.

Chloe, a pupil at Front Lawn Junior School in Leigh Park, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma – a rare cancer in children – last year.

She underwent surgery to remove a large tumour from her right femur and was recovering well after nine months of chemotherapy. But then doctors discovered a second tumour in her lungs.

Tracy added: ‘We want it to be a massive party for Chloe. She’s a little princess.’

The show will be held at The Kings Theatre at 7.30pm on Monday.

Tickets are £8 for adults and £6 for concessions. For tickets call (023) 9282 8282.
