HYMNS were sung and prayers were offered at a civic service to mark the Mayor of Fareham’s chosen chaplaincy.
The service took place on Sunday at St Mary’s Church, in Church Road, Warsash.
Dignitaries from across Fareham, including MP Suella Fernandes and council leader Sean Woodward, attended.
Mayor Mike Ford, who also represents Warsash on the council, picked the church as it holds special memories for him.
Cllr Ford said: ‘It has been particularly special for us because this is our local church and we have a strong involvement. My wife Anne and I were married here, our two daughters were both married here and our six grandchildren were baptised here.’
