Two Southsea sailors have been welcomed by a massive homecoming parade after spending a year sailing around the world.

Ian Geraghty and Juan Coetzer have been racing in the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race on board the Geraldton Western Australia.

And today they have sailed back into Southampton waters, where they set off in July last year.

In sixth place, the crew cheered and waved as they were welcomed by dozens of other boats in the Solent.

Juan, 35, said: ‘I can’t believe how many people have turned out to see us home.

‘It is a great day and I’m so pleased to be back.’
