RESIDENTS in Fareham and Gosport raised more than £21,000 at the annual Macmillan coffee morning.

Thanks to the thousands of people who helped out at the Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, the charity smashed its fundraising target and raised £10m.

In Fareham and Gosport £21,123.62 was raised – an increase of 10 per cent from the previous year.

Lynda Thomas, Macmillan’s director of fundraising, said: ‘I’d like to extend a huge thank you to our wonderful coffee morning hosts and guests who raised £10m for Macmillan Cancer Support, which is just fantastic.

‘It just goes to show that by bringing together the people you value most, you’re making time for what matters and funding the Macmillan nurses, therapists and support line workers who make sure people living with cancer have a good team in their corner, every step of the way.’

This year the event will take place on Friday, September 28.
