The swards recognise the achievements of 2012.

Awards will be handed to elite performers as well as members of the local sporting community – the coaches, officials and volunteers who work behind the scenes to help athletes and clubs succeed.

Richard Wood, sports development officer at the borough council, said: ‘We want people to nominate the performers, coaches, teams, officials and volunteers who have shown commitment and dedication at their local sports club, giving them the recognition they deserve.

‘After an amazing year of sporting achievement with the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics at the centre, it is important that we celebrate the wealth of talent we have in the area and recognise their achievements.’
