SPLASHING about in the sea is a welcome break from usual duties both for this horse and its rider.

Corporal of the Horse Dan Viness, 27, from Portsmouth, is a soldier of the Household Cavalry.

Enjoying some time on the sunny beaches of Norfolk is a chance for both rider and horse to take a few weeks away from trotting the tarmac of London.

It is also a chance for the cavalrymen to boost bonds between horse and rider.

CoH Viness said: ‘Bringing the guys and horses to Norfolk is a great opportunity.

‘Variety is one of the best things for the horses and being able to canter along the beach and open fields is great. Men and horses alike enjoy that and it boosts confidence.’
