Justin Hansen, 59, who has Short Bowel Syndrome, was due to undertake a gruelling four-month trek from Lands End to John O’Groats. He had to have his intestine removed at the age of 41 due damage caused by Crohn's disease.

Justin, of Southsea, who also suffered a stroke in 2007, was going to be joined on the walk by partner, Alice McGarvie, 45, who has herself battled back from breast cancer.

The couple were due to commence the walk on April 28, exactly four years after Alice received her diagnosis.

Justin Hansen, 59, and his partner Alice McGarvie, 45, will be walking from Lands End to John O'Groats to raise money for the cancer charity, Penny Brohn UK and PINNT (Patients On Intravenous & Nasogastric Nutrition Therapy).

However, due to potential health implications caused by the pandemic the couple have taken the decision to postpone the event to the same date next year.

Alice said: ‘We have had to postpone the event as Justin has had to go into social isolation due to his weakened immune system.’
