Couple's day saved by good samaritan gesture

A COUPLE who were renewing their wedding vows had their day saved by a kind stranger.

Having renewed their vows at St Thomas’ Church in Bedhampton, Teresa Anslow, 51, and her husband Bill, 58, saw their day take an unfortunate turn.

Mr and Mrs Anslow, who have been married for 23 years, were being driven in a vintage car when the hydraulics failed.

With seemingly no way of getting to the reception on Hayling Island, a man living on the street came across and told them to hop into his Bentley instead, ensuring that they arrived on time for the afternoon’s celebrations.

Mrs Anslow said: ‘We are going to send him a thank you card – I couldn’t get over how nice of a gesture it was.

‘It’s nice to see that sort of kindness in this day and age.

‘He saved our special day.’
