Courageous law graduate walks for first time in five years after horrific car crash

A UNIVERSITY of Portsmouth alumnus walked for the first time in five years at his second graduation ceremony.

Receiving his law degree from the University of West England, Jerry Daliel got a standing ovation from classmates as he rose from his wheelchair.

Ex-police officer Jerry was in a horrific car crash in 2011, before graduating in Crime and Criminology from Portsmouth last year.

Father-of-three Jerry said: ‘During the Portsmouth graduation ceremony, I was not fit enough like the others to stand and receive the honour.

‘However, during my fresher days at UWE, I had promised my classmates that I was going to work extra hard healthwise to be well enough to be honoured standing.’
