THE minister of state for culture, media and sport has revealed he is ‘embarrassed’ not to have visited Portsmouth’s thriving theatres.

Ed Vaizey made the statement following an invitation to the city’s arts scene by Portsmouth South MP, Flick Drummond.

Responding to the invite, Mr Vaizey said: ‘I would be delighted to find the time to visit. I am embarrassed because I spend a lot of time visiting theatres in the regions.’

He added a ‘thriving cultural scene’ can bring ‘immense social’ and economic benefits to the area.
