FOUR best friends who won a national modelling competition will be encouraging others to follow in their footsteps.
Ellesha Newton, Camilla Anderson, Rufaro Nyakatawa and Charlotte Joines won a modelling contract last year after winning a competition called Model Mates on ITV’s Lorraine.
Now, she will appear alongside three other models to support the international lingerie brand Curvy Kate, as part of a special event for Valentine’s Day.
The girls will appear at Debenhams in Portsmouth tomorrow alongside other models, in a bid to help find new lingerie starts from the area.
Charlotte, 32, from Stamshaw, was turned down for modelling in the past due to her size.
She said: ‘It’s been really exciting being involved in the search this year. A year ago this was all a dream and now I’ve lived it. I keep telling people this really could be you.
‘Years ago I tried and was told that I was too big and I had to lose weight.
‘I went on to have children and so I thought it’s never going to happen now and my age was against me.’
The firm has launched their annual search for a model called Star in a Bra, in a bid to find curvy and confident women to showcase their products.
The competition champions the use of customer role models and promotes a positive approach to body image, which all women can relate to.
Ellesha, 29, added: ‘It’s amazing to be part of the Curvy Kate team and helping to find their next star in a bra. I know exactly how all the girls feel and I hope all involved have a great journey.’
All sizes, ages, frames and heights are encouraged to enter the competition.
The girls will take part in a live lingerie shop window event in Bournemouth on Saturday.
