A CYCLIST had a lucky escape when they were almost run over by a taxi after falling off their bike.

Police said the cyclist fell off in Portsmouth last night.

In a tweet they said: ‘A passing taxi ran over the bike, narrowly missing the cyclist! Not sure that wheel can be fixed, but the cyclist is safe and well.’

The central police team tweeted a picture of the mangled bike, and gave the cyclist a lift home.
