Dad from Fareham completes skydive for Rainbow Centre

Steve Bonnick, from Fareham, was raising cash for the Rainbow Centre which helps his son Charlie.

The driving instructor travelled to Salisbury with some of his colleagues to take part in the 15,000ft sky dive.

He said: ‘I felt pretty nervous before we did but I was also excited so there were mixed emotions.

‘I calmed down a little after meeting the instructor and going through the training.

‘But then we approached the plane and the nerves started again. I was pretty nervous at this point.’

The team decided to skydive from 15,000ft instead of the 10,000ft skydives normally start at. They did a 125mph freefall.

Steve added: ‘When we reached the height of the skydive, the feeling was indescribable.

‘Once we dropped, it was fantastic and then when we landed, I was on a complete high.

‘It is something I would definitely recommend.’

Steve said he wanted to thank Fareham-based coach company Lucketts who took the group to Salisbury for free, meaning all the money they raised could be donated to the Rainbow Centre.

The centre, in Palmerston Drive, Fareham, supports children with cerebral palsy and adults with Parkinson’s or have suffered a stroke.
