A NIGHTCLUB appearance by controversial comedian Dapper Laughs has been cancelled after jokes he made about rape hit the headlines.

He had been due to make an appearance at Tiger Tiger this Thursday.

However, the Gunwharf Quays nightclub and promoters Eskimo11 have agreed today to cancel the appearance in light of jokes about sexual violence.

The comic, whose real name is Daniel O’Reilly, has hit national headlines recently after he made jokes about rape.

He was caught on camera telling a female audience member at one of his gigs that she was ‘gagging for a rape’.

Luke Betts, from Eskimo11, said: ‘This was all booked about three months ago. But in light of what he said it’s not something we want to be associated with.’

In a statement, Tiger Tiger said: ‘In light of events in the last 24 hours, we have taken the decision to cancel the appearance of Dapper Laughs.’

The Hi-Jack event at Tiger Tiger will still go ahead as planned on Thursday night.
