Buttons in the Tesco Express in Goldsmith Avenue, Southsea

Buttons, a two-and-a-half-year-old, is a familiar sight ‘shopping’ in the Tesco Express in Goldsmith Avenue, Southsea.

She lives with Helen Earle and her son Ashley, 12, in Greyshott Road, Southsea, just round the back of the store.

Although Buttons is regularly in the store, one well-intentioned shopper saw her and thought she was lost, and so took her home, in order to take her to a vet and have her microchip scanned.

The shopper only lived in Frogmore Road, across the other side of Goldsmith Avenue from Tesco, but Buttons escaped and has not been seen since.

Helen, 48, said: ‘Buttons is in Tesco all the time. Someone took her home to be scanned and she escaped.

‘She is very streetwise. She goes to the tyre and exhaust garage on the corner as well and the men in there call her Sparky. She is a celebrity.

‘I’m a bit worried that as she was taken to Goldsmith Avenue she is on the wrong side of the main road and may be disorientated.’

Ashley has two other cats, Coco and Snickers, and Helen said that he is desperate for Buttons to come home.

Anyone who spots her can call Helen on 07889 240244.
