The chairwoman of Portchester Fundraising was ‘gobsmacked’ at the amount of money raised for the RNLI last week.

A total of £1,032.85 was raised in three days at the Tesco in North Harbour, Portsmouth.

Portchester Fundraising chairman Erica Creedy said: ‘I’m overwhelmed by the generosity of people. To go over £1,000 purely by people putting money in a bucket is quite astounding.

‘I’d also like to thank the Tesco staff for allowing us to fundraise there.’
