THE Billy Elliot big time beckons this summer for a young dancer from Emsworth.

James Moore, 12, has been selected from hundreds of other hopefuls and won a place at Billy School.

Over a six-week period, the producers of Billy Elliot The Musical will assess whether James has got what it takes to go on to become Billy in the West End production.

James, who is a student at Chichester’s Arabesque School of Performing Arts and started dancing aged two, said: ‘On a scale of 10, I would rate my chances as seven.

‘I need to improve on my ballet which Arabesque has helped me with a lot. I also need to improve my tap.

‘I have wanted to perform all my life.

‘Every time I see a stage, I am on it!’

If all goes well, the earliest James could be in the show is January.

The producers operate with three Billys at any one time, with one on, one on stand-by, and one on holiday.

James added: ‘I really want to fulfil my dream and go further with my dream.’
