GO TO Southsea this weekend and enjoy Portsmouth’s seaside roots with a family fun day.
A virtual village will the appearing on Castle Field, at Clarence Esplanade, to celebrate the Rural and Seaside Show.
Running the whole of this bank holiday weekend, from 10am till 5pm, the show will have lots of things for families to enjoy.
Terrier racing, ferret racing, donkey rides, marquees, Morris dancing and a traditional Punch and Judy show are some of the entertainment which has ben organised.
Councillor Lee Hunt, cabinet member for culture, sport and leisure at Portsmouth City Council, said: ‘The Rural and Seaside Show is a fantastic new event.
‘It is part of the council’s plans to bring more and better events to our city.
‘With heavy horses and numerous stalls to enjoy, there’s never been a better time to head to the seafront for the afternoon.
‘I hope lots of visitors and residents alike will take advantage of this free, fun bank holiday event.’ Local organisations are supporting the event.
The Blue Reef Aquarium will be showing off its rock pool exhibition to visitors and The Deck at Emsworth will supply food and drink.
