A MEETING to help tortoises coming out of hibernation will take place this weekend.

The event will see speeches from various committee members and they will be giving printed material to take away.

Tortoise-related products will also be available to buy.

The society in Titchfield is a charity that helps support owners as well as running a sanctuary. It has already found two tortoises which probably escaped last summer or autumn and dug themselves into the ground to hibernate.

One was found in North End, Portsmouth and the other in Bursledon, Southampton. The group is currently looking for their rightful owners.

The event will take place tomorrow at 3pm at Whiteley Community Centre, in Gull Coppice in Whiteley.
