THEY are fast becoming one of the most popular instruments and now a music shop is giving away a free lesson.

Nevada Music is holding a Little Ukulele Jam – a chance to have a go at the instrument which is known as one of the easiest to master.

The workshop is being run by Igloo Music and director Dielle Hannah said: ‘This delightful little instrument comes to life when played in groups. It is a good way into any form of music. Conducting the workshop at Nevada will hopefully give a taste of how much fun it is to play, and how diverse the ukulele can sound.’

Groups such as the Portsmouth Ukulele Orchestra and the Pompey Pluckers are enjoying great popularity. While teenage Portsmouth artist Huw Olesker has risen to national prominence.

Ukuleles will be provided at the workshop which takes place on November 2 from 1pm to 3pm at Nevada Music, Fitzherbert Spur, Farlington.
