TRAIN enthusiasts will be heading to Hayling this weekend as it plays host to a gala.
The Narrow Gauge Railway Society was set up in 1951 and this year has chosen the Hayling Seaside Railway to host its annual general meeting.
That means there will be lots for visitors to enjoy, including seeing the coal-fired live steam loco Wendy in action, pulling public steam specials.
The railway’s resident diesel fleet will play a supporting role, hauling a series of heritage freight trains.
Railway volunteer Ian Edwards said: ‘We are honoured they have chosen to visit us, in this, the railway’s 10th year of operation.’
Trains run from Beachlands station beside the Funland roller coaster to Eastoke Corner. The first passenger train is due at 11am.
