THIS year’s Rowlands Castle summer fair raised more than £4,000 for village causes, it has been announced.

How the cash will be spent will be decided at the annual meeting of the fair committee in October.

Jan Croker, committee secretary, said: ‘We have just had our fair wash-up meeting and can safely say it raised more than £4,000.

‘There is still a small amount to come in, but that is the headline figure.

‘It was a fantastic day in lovely weather and the result reflects that.

‘There was some very positive feedback, with the dog show especially popular.’

At the October meeting the committee will look at village projects and organisations and decide which to support.

The principle is that donations should benefit the whole village as much as possible.

Mrs Croker added: ‘The Scouts, or the village school, which is in the middle of an ongoing project to provide an outdoor learning area, could be ideal beneficiaries for donations, but no decisions have been made yet.’
