A MOTHER and father said they are ‘devastated’ to lose their beautiful daughter after she died in a car crash near Funtington on Friday, August 14.
Richard and Caroline Mannings paid tribute to their daughter Georgina, 22, of Old Rectory Close, in Westbourne.
‘We have been humbled with the overwhelming amount of love, support sand prayers, which continue to provide us with great comfort,’ they said in a statement released this morning.
The couple’s 20-year-old son, whom they have asked not to be named, was in the back of the car driven by Miss Mannings when it crashed into a parked DAF heavy goods vehicle on the B2146 between Funtington and East Ashling at 2.15pm.
‘Our son, who has suffered life-changing injuries, remains seriously unwell and faces a long and difficult journey ahead,’ they said.
‘We are devastated with the loss of our beautiful daughter, Georgie.’
Their 20-year-old son is currently at Southampton General Hospital with serious back and leg injuries. He was in the back of the VW Polo saloon when it crashed.
The front-seat passenger, a 24-year-old Gosport man, was treated for cuts at St Richard’s Hospital, in Chichester, and left on the same day.
Miss Manning died at the scene of the accident and the road was closed for more than four hours while emergency services attended the scene.
