FAMILIES of serving troops or those medically discharged since 2001 are being offered a free trip to the cinema.

Soldiers and their families will be offered tickets to a special screening of Steven Spielberg’s epic War Horse, at Fareham’s Apollo Cinema ahead of its release date.

DreamWorks Pictures is offering the tickets through the charity Tickets for Troops the week before the movie is out on general release on January 13.

Nicole Oakley, marketing manager for Apollo Cinemas said: ‘We are thrilled to be able to provide these exclusive screenings for members of our armed forces and reward and recognise them for all the great work they do on our behalf.’

More than 600 soldiers and family members will attend the screenings in six cinemas across the country.

The one in Fareham takes place on Monday at 6.30pm. Tickets can be claimed at ticketsfortroops.org.uk
