FEMINISTS of all ages are being invited to get together to celebrate the Women’s Liberation Movement (WLM).

An event is being held at the John Pounds Centre, in Queen Street, Portsmouth on Saturday, June 27, where women from the WLM of the 1970s and 80s will lead workshops to discuss numerous topics related to the movement.

Topics of discussion at the meeting, which is being called ‘Women’s Liberation in Portsmouth 1968-1990: A Witness Seminar’, will include campaigns to increase women’s aid projects in Portsmouth.

These projects help women who have been subjected to domestic violence.

University of Portsmouth lecturer, Dr Sue Bruley, said: ‘There has been a resurgence of interest in feminism over the last couple of years.

‘I think women of my generation can learn from younger women.’

The event is free and informal and more information can be found online at johnpoundscentre.co.uk/womens-liberation-in-portsmouth-1968-1990/
