FIREFIGHTERS had to saw off an engagement ring from a man’s finger – after love turned sour.

The 26-year-old walked into Fareham fire station on Saturday afternoon asking for help to remove the ring.

Watch manager Ross Hutton said: ‘Unfortunately he had broken up with his partner but was stuck with the ring on his finger. He’d tried grease and washing up liquid but it wouldn’t come off.’

Firefighters used a tiny saw to remove it. Mr Hutton added: ‘He was very pleased we could help him.’
