A ROMAN museum is opening its doors to showcase the work of up-and-coming artists.

Fishbourne Roman Palace, near Chichester, will be holding an arts and crafts fair on Sunday, July 31, from 10am to 5pm.

Museum director Jaane Rowehl said: ‘We are supporting the work of local artists to give them an important opportunity to reach a wider audience with their work.

‘We hope that visitors will spend the day at the palace and also enjoy our beautiful mosaics, artefacts and grounds.’

Co-organiser Shelley Steel said: ‘It is easy for local people to forget just what an important and fascinating archaeological site we have on our doorstep. We anticipate that visitors will take the opportunity to reacquaint themselves with the artefacts.’
