FOR 30 years Joan Baker has been at the heart of Farlington Gardeners Club.
As the treasurer she has made sure the annual show, at United Halls in Havant Road, has gone smoothly and within budget.
But the 84-year-old has bowed out after last weekend’s show which went brilliantly.
Mrs Baker, a great-grandmother, said: ‘I hope it was a very good show.
‘I’ve been involved for a very long time and have some wonderful memories.
‘When we first set up the club we were very naive but had a lot of fun.
‘One of my favourite things about the club is that we’ve had so many laughs.
‘But I’m quite old now and it’s time to give someone else a go.’
The show, on Saturday, had many visitors and was a big success, with a high quality of entries.
