A WELL-known journalist for local and national newspapers has died.

John Dodd suffered a heart attack at his home in South Harting, near Peterfield, on Boxing Day. He was 75.

John wrote a whimsical column for the Chichester Observer and had worked on Fleet Street for many years. He began his career as a trainee journalist on the Petersfield Post. He was a huge supporter of local pubs. Jo Rothery, previously edition editor of the Observer, said: ‘One of the best “old-school” journalists around, John was also a real gentleman and will be sadly missed.’
