SUSSEX Police have received a discounted fold-up bicycle from a local bike shop as a way of helping to reduce mileage and fuel costs and be more environmentally friendly.

Sergeant Lorna Dennison-Wilkins from the Specialist Search Unit said: ‘We are grateful to South Downs Bikes for sponsoring us so we can have this wonderful fold-up bike.

‘It will enable us to reduce our fuel costs and do our bit for the environment.

‘The bike will be used alongside the unit’s free bus travel and will be used to get to appointments, and do search planning in areas where a police car would be unable to get to.

‘We can now cycle to our workshops to pick up vehicles and equipment.’
